Christimas was extra special this year. Mummy did my own baking of xmas cookies, and cupcakes and even logcakes! This baking bug has bitten mummy really hard :P Daddy thinks it is not a bad idea afterall. We could save up quite a bit with these homemade goodies :P Mummy got braver and tried roasting a whole chicken! Fortunately these adventures were all edible and posed no danger to our family. hahaha LOL

Ryan's K2 Graduation Concert

Belated Post: (26/11/2009)

At last, it was the shining moment for the going-to-be-P1 children. Ryan's care centre had put up a graduation concert for all the K2 children. A chance to mark the children's growth and milestone :)

It was held at a theatre in Republic Polytechnic. The school went through great extend for this 'kids' concert with elaborated costumes, syncronised music and drama lightings. Ryan went through some rough patches while training for the show. Though his part was rather simple, he was required to practise many times with his classmates in order to perfect the timing and steps. This made him crazy :P Many times he skipped the training after causing troubles during practises :( Mummy even got to took leave to attend one of the combined training (among other centres) so as to make sure Ryan would behave. Sigh...

Nevertheless the hard work was paid off. Ryan was very excited over the show, especially when he was in costume and make-up. Gosh, he was so adorable :P (self-praise) But alas, there was a little hiccup just minutes before the actual show began... Teacher Prahba called mummy to help calm Ryan down. He was said to be crying non-stop...

Not too sure what had happened, but mummy managed to hush him down and got ready for the show... Later after the show, Ryan complained that his classmate wiped off his make-up to make him an ugly boy, thus the crying started.. sigh... vain pot :P

Belated post: (11/Oct/2009

It's Ryan birthday one month after daddy's birthday. Really taxing for mummy :P So much to prepare! We told Ryan that it would be his last extensively-celebrated birthday party this year. After which he would be a 'big boy', not a pre-schooler anymore :P Surprisingly Ryan was rather receptive to the news. Well, mummy took the easy way to hold the party: Kidz Amaze at Safra Toa Payoh and a day after Ryan's actual birthdate.

Kidz Amaze is an indoor playground with tunnels & slides. Other than that, there are party rooms available for private gatherings. Indeed an ideal venue for mummy :)

1st attempt - Fondant Cookies

Our neighbours had been asking mummy to meet and try some home baking as they claimed to have under-utilised their sophisticated ovens. Mummy too has a convection oven which is only used for microwaving & light grilling. It is time to make my money well-spent :)

As a start, mummy set a target: to bake sugar cookies for Ryan's 6th birthday as a door gift. The 1st attempt was not so successful. The batter might have been over-beaten thus caused the cookies to be 'bloated' in size. Those cut with mickey mouse cutter & stamper were enlarged beyond recognition :P sigh... at least I did try, mummy said to myself.

But mummy did not give up :) I signed up a day class at a home baker to learn the basic of cookie making and decoration. Here you see the class work mummy had done.
Rather ugly lot :P Mummy had shaky hand and limited creativity. Well, at least mummy tried...

Determined to make my own gift for Ryan's birthday, mummy tried again. This time mummy applied the tips & tricks learned from the day class. The result was at last satisfactory. They looked like this...

Nice or not :P The taste actually was not that sweet either. The sweetness of fondant & icing had blended with the dryness of cookie. Rather balance I would say. (self-praise :P) Mummy actually received order of such cookies from daddy's colleague. How much to charge? I'm totally clueless? Anyone can enlighten mummy?

Daddy's 37th Birthday

I cannot believe it! It is daddy's birthday! So soon??? Mummy could still remember so vividly the torturing oyster-swallowing act done by daddy at his bday lunch. Oh my goodness, how could mummy celebrate this special day with more new tricks? A devious plan mummy gotta have. hehehehe...

The 'celebration' started out with a peaceful breakfast (without kiddos :P) at Red Star Dim Sum restaurant The foods were not fantastically nice but the ambience was traditional and cozy.

Almost routinely, we went for a movie G.I. Joe at Marina Square. We even sneak-peeked the PC show at Suntec. Though it might be rather boring for some, we felt really carefree and had enjoyed the sweet moment as a couple.

At last, it was the time to present the main item of the 'celebration' show...
Mummy unveiled daddy's special gift at the entrance of a nail beauty shop. Wow-la! It was a Pedicure & Manicure classic treatments for men! Daddy shrudded with fear :P He tried to resist but in vain. HAHAHAHAHa... The beautician actually commented that she felt honored to service his 'virgin feet'! ROFL.

The treat ended just before the kiddos got off from school. We enjoyed a nice little cake from Bengawan Solo in mummy's favorite filling: Mango (Hey, whose bday cake was that for ;P) That Mickey Mouse cake design was hand-picked by Demi. (Well, she is daddy's girl. She has the say :P)

Last but not least, each of us presented a gift to daddy. There was a Deuter Sling bag, Goldlion card wallet and daddy's dream gift: Iphone 3Gs.

Happy birthday, daddy. Hope you have had a great time. Mummy got to pick more brain juice for a better bday torture, Opps I mean, bday surprise for you next year and many years to come ;) :-*

Successful Enrollment!!!

HURRAY!!! Ryan has successfully allocated a place in West Grove Primary School :D
Mummy's heart sunk when the P1 registration required ballot after receiving 256 application for a mere 94 vacancies.

Both mummy and daddy reported at the school at 8am this morning. We were guided to the Assembly Hall where the balloting would be held. There were about 200 or more hopeful parents. Everyone was nervous, mummy could tell 'cos I was definitely one of them :P Before the actual 'lucky draw', 9 parents from the audience volunteered to be the 'picker' of the balloting. Then cards of name of each applicants were read out while shown on projection and thrown into a clear box. After the verification, the volunteers took their lucky pick. You could imagine our anxiety when the number started to shrink from 94, 93, 92....

We could not believe our eyes when Ryan's name was shown on projection after 60+ names were announced! What a relief!!! It is really no joke to withstand such intense pressure. Fortunately, this would be our last since Demi could enrol with sibiling priority.

Next on the list, before/after school care centre registration. There are about 7 such centres around the proximity of this school. Mummy needs to check them out one by one. sigh... more work to be done...

Attack of the HFMD!!!

Gosh, it is confirmed. Demi is diagnosed with Hand, Foot, Mouth disease :(
Daddy has detected only a mild fever 37.5 oC this morning. We thought it was just a light flu or something. Sigh... she is now on MC till 29.07.2009. Ryan is not spared. He has to be isolated either at school or at home. It is a big blow to mummy & daddy. It really caught us off guard. Who is to help babysit the kiddos. How many days of leave could we afford to take? Mummy's head is spinning >_<

Jurong Bird Park

Daddy's colleague from Germany visited Singapore for a training session. We brought him to the Jurong Bird Park with the two precious :) We were blessed with very fine weather (though mummy could welcome some cool breeze, if any) :P

House-warming with the Gang

Thousands apologies, folks. Really got so lazy to blog as mummy is now addicted to a time-consuming hobby: Online screening :P Mummy's favourite Korean drama has just drawn up the curtains. Alas, life has finally returned to its normal pace... I feel that the drama is captivating as it is a near-impossible modern fairy tale that everyone would love to experience it. OK, it is lame. Rather old and tacky for an auntie like me. Well, mummy is still a young girl at heart. hahahahahahaha.... ;D

OK! To start the rusty ball rolling, shall upload some pictures taken during the MIA period. We had a house-warming gathering with the old Gang from Idobaby. Our best memory was that big plate Yu-Sheng. A belated BIG thank U to you gang for the presents and presence :)Your visit had made our new nest very warm indeed!!

Bear and Chicken Go Camping

The childcare centre, My First Skool had organised a field trip to DBS Arts Centre for a skit entitled, Bear & Chicken Go Camping

The school did a good job arranging brand-new-smelling coach bus for the kiddos. Though only one parent was allowed per student, both mummy and daddy could get to go since our two monsters were in the same school :P Every seat came with a safety belt. The teachers made sure everyone was buckled up. Mummy got to use Barney's buckle up song to coax Demi to do the same. Else she would be the girl version of Humpty Dumpty :P

It was a complete chaos when we eventually reached the DBS Arts Centre. There were children from other schools as well. Mummy was secretly glad that the school uniform was in deep red & blue. It really stood up in crowd, like a sore thumb :P Before going into the theatre, everyone was made to visit the loo, just in case (of 'wet event') As usual, the queue for the girl toilets was unimaginably long :D For once, mummy was glad Demi was still in her diaper. hahaha..

The show was entertaining and funny. Even daddy managed to crack a few laughter.
After the skit, the teachers led all to the walkng pavement along the Singapore river (next to Arts Centre) and set up picnic areas. Children were given fish burgers and apples as light lunch. Too bad the weather was rather unkind. It started to rain almost as soon as the children were all settled down. Sigh... alas, all board, the coach bus, i mean :P

Demi got 'attacked' !!

Totally furious! Demi's teacher had called to report that she had got bitten by her classmate, again >_< This was the second time in a week of 5-day care. Gosh!! Not forgetting she had also tripped and fallen at the playground on the first day of the same week. OMG!!!

Ok, mummy knows Demi is rather clumsy. It is inevitable to have some bruises and cuts. But they happen really frequently, I would say :( Not that mummy wants to complain, I just hope that the teachers can be more attentive during those 'dangerous times' (outdoor/playtime). Sigh, how I missed Auntie Jenny's tender-loving care...

Ryan the brave boy

It was last August when we saw the new tooth budding in Ryan's mouth.

It was rather early for Ryan to have his first adult teeth (or so we thought) Though it had affected the existing front tooth, pushing it to crook to an angle, we thought it was normal. It was left to the mother nature until January 2009 when we made a visit to our family dental clinic.

The shocking news was confirmed after the dentist took a X-ray of the teeth. Ryan had a one-in-a-thousand situation: an extra tooth pertruded between the 2 front teeth. According the dentist, this extra had to be extracted as soon as possible as it would affect the growth of adult front teeth later on. And since this extra was overlapped with the existing front tooth. Both teeth had to be extracted at the same time.

The only problem: whether a 5-year-old could withstand the pain of the numbing jabs (at least 3) and allow the dentist to perform her magic :P If this was not possible, we had to get it done at the hospital where Ryan would be 'put to sleep' to get these teeth out :P Besides the high cost, it would pose certain level of risk.
A big challenge to mummy. And I had to make decision, coax Ryan and control him within minutes. Gosh! Who says parenting is easy!!

Of course we went ahead with the jabs and faced the screaming & tearing of Ryan :( Fortunately Ryan could still glue to the dentist chair throughout the trial. It would surely be worse if he flipped and tossed and turned. The dentist managed to extract both teeth in one piece each, not broken or in pieces (otherwise more complication would arise). At last, it was done in 15 minutes. Ryan might have thought it was his darkest minutes ever. hahahaa...

Ryan did express his fear after the leaving the dental clinic.
"Mummy, next time we don't come to see dentist already, can?"
Mummy said "So do u want worms to live happily in your teeth? If you don't see dentist, no one can help you catch them. How?"
Ryan said " ok lor... must come see dentist to catch my worms in my mouth..."

Hehehe... somehow, mummy feels Ryan is still a simple boy at heart :P

It had been a rather eventful 2008 for us: balloting and getting a new flat, packing & moving house, switching to a new childcare center etc... Phew! How glad we are to have settled happily in the new nest and slowly adapting to the new environement.

Now our home must be really sweet for us. So sweet that it makes all very lazy to get back to the usual self. Mummy is lazy to blog about anything, daddy is lazy to do any leftover unpacking, Ryan is hoping to watch Cartoon Network every minute and Demi loves to laze in her new cot (instead of rocking sarong).

Gosh! It takes mummy tonnes of effort to start making entries in the blog again :P Just so hard to start that rusty engine. Sorry folks :P I'll try to be more hardworking, k? Hehehe...

It has been a long while since the last proper update on Demi's tremendous growth. To date she is about 21 month old. It has been a month since she first started 'school' at the childcare centre. Demi is fast adapting to the new environment. After a week of yelling and heart-tearing goodbyes, she now waves sweetly to us and make herself comfy at the play area. We feel that it is a sign of growing up and inevitably our sign of aging :P Being parents is never an easy task. It takes lots of physical effort and emotional turmoils >_<

We have taken a short video clip of Demi gearing up for school. It was taken from our home to the carpark, with a playground along the way. Demi refused to let anyone help her with the big 'school' bag (containing her change of clothing, diapers & milk powder)and demanded to help mummy carry her books :P But as soon as Demi caught sight of the playground, all stuffs were 'dumped' and off she went to the new found paradise! hehehe...

This video should be a classic to us. Demi always loves to eat on her own. Spoon-feeding is never her favourite. We suppose self-feeding gives her a sense of freedom :P Demi was caught fishing out those bean sprouts from her bowl of rice :D Best of all, she left those unwanted vegetable on mummy's plate instead. See her shaking head when she found those 'yucky' vege :P Hilarious!

We were invited to Mirabel's 3rd birthday. Thanks to Auntie Wendy & Uncle Mike! It was great as mummy had not seen the rest of the mummy gang for such a long time :P Though it was a birthday party, Ryan and Demi had received their first x'mas presents of the year from Auntie Elaine! Thanks a Million!!

Birthday parties!!

Mummy's young cousin, Kaitleen is one week older than Ryan. Her party was held at at NTUC pasir ris chalet. Lots of foods, cake, swimming for the kids. No wonder Ryan said, I Love Party! Some pictures to share...

Ryan got his fair share of celebration too :D Mummy got him a 3D F1 cake. Think it was really nice to look at and eat too. But it was a tough job to get it sliced up. Really a big thank you to all friends for their thoughtful presence and presents :D Sincerely hope that we have been a good host, providing nice foods & entertainment :P p.s. So glad that the swimming pool really came in handy. Ryan just could not get enough of the dipping. Even Demi was contemplating to dive in every time she caught a glimpse of the pool. Phew, that was close!

the BIG 5 !!

It has been a long while since the last update :P Nest battle is really not an easy feat. Fortunately we could see the end of tunnel very soon. Yippee!

Last friday was Ryan's 5th birthday. Mummy arranged an ecreative cake to be delivered to the childcare center just before the afternoon tea-break. Everyone in the class was still napping away when mummy reached the center with goodies bags and disposable cutlery. But as soon as they realised a party was about to begin, all jumped from the nap, packed the mattresses and crowded around me with lots of complains (about Ryan) and questions. There was one boy actually called me mummy too :P

It was a Ben-10 cake :P Ryan's favourite :D
But from the class response, it looked like the favourites of many boys too. All went 'WOW.....' when the cake was presented. Think this made Ryan extremely proud and excited. he kept repeating, my mummy got it for me; its Ben-10 cake. What more could I ask for? Just glad he had enjoyed himself on this special day.

It's daddy's Birthday!

Mummy and daddy took leave on this day to 'celebrate' his special day. OK, not really a celebration. At least it was a kids-free day, a day we could have some couple time. We went to The Line at Shangri-la Hotel as our last visit was a very memorable one. Mummy could still remember the dishes I didn't get to try as anything more would burst my stomach! The selection was really wide! And they served very fresh oysters! Mummy 'asked' (ok, forced) daddy to take one. It was his least favourite and yet a very big pity should he miss such delicacy... Daddy took a full 2 mintues before he could overcome his fear and took a gulp :P really funny to see his struggling moment and the after-taste reaction. notti mummy :D

We picked up the precious after the long lunch. Mummy got a simple cake for daddy and celebrated with grandma. This made her really happy!

Thomas & Friends SHOW

The day had arrived!!! Finally, Ryan got to meet his favourite train, Thomas in 'person'. Mummy just glad that Demi could get to watch it too... of course, for FREE... YEAH YEAH

We were one hour early and managed to get Thomas merchandises. Ryan chose a Thomas tray mat for his 'mum-mum' table (aka dining table) at S$5. Mummy added another programe sheet which served as a big poster. It also came with a plastic dinner plate. For both, it was S$15. Daddy said No when we wanted to get a Thomas Light Stik at S$15 each. He thought once purchased, we got to get 2 as Demi would expectedly fight for this new toy :P Sigh... Budget Pte Ltd... we shut our eyes and moved on. Luckily Ryan did not make a fuss... He was too excited to see Thomas and occupied himself by posing with Thomas's poster. Vain Pot! ROFL

Really glad that we had got the seatings at front row. At row B AA2, we were 2nd nearest to the stage. Just before the show started, 3-4 actors came to the front rows to say Hi and give out some balloons. (We managed to grab 2 :P) One of them was the 'driver' of Thomas. He stamped Thomas chop on kids' hands. This was enough to make Ryan extremely happy and thrilled! What more could we ask for? Ryan took a picture with this handsome driver too. Too bad daddy's hands were shaky. Not too clear a shot though :P

The show started at 1.30pm sharp. Ryan knew almost all the songs and could 'sing' along. We were surprised that Demi enjoyed the show too. She could sit still throughout on mummy's lap. On and off she would turn her head side to side so as to get a better view :D Whenever there were parts where children waved and said bye to the trains, Demi would hold up her hands and does her baby waves too. She had so much fun singing 'orh, orh, orh'. Towards the end of the show, the Fat Controller came to interact with the audience at front seats, Demi stood on mummy's lap so excitedly that it hurt! >_<

Alas, the show ended, not without surprise. Burst of confetti went off and the children gone crazy grabbing and sweeping these colourful bits. Yet Ryan said sadly, "Mummy, you have 3 tickets, right? can we see again?" Really didn't want to break his little heart just yet. Mummy soothed him with promises to see more shows next time. Actually mummy was planning to bring the precious to the movie, Wall.E.
Maybe we should go in the coming weekend...just maybe :P

Siblings Love/Rivalry

Mummy is too tired.. ahem! ok, too lazy to update the blog. Really exhausted after a whole day of work and nest battle. Hopefully all will be settled by October.

Daddy was doing his regular check on Ryan's teeth for tooth decay when this new budding tooth was found. We are excited and worried at same time :P Happy that Ryan has a new tooth to replace his weak and tiny pearlies. But also worry that his new teeth may not be straight and neat (and be like us - crooked teeth :P )

Not too sure if we need to go visit the Dentist... Is it to early to tell?

It's Grandma's Bday!!

Uncle Daniel (mummy's brother) and auntie Doris (SIL)initiated a sit-down dinner today to celebrate Granny's 52th birthday. Since the folks preferred Chinese-style meals (compared to western fish & chips:P), Uncle Daniel made a reservation at Long Beach (East Coast), near to ECP MacDonald's.

Verdict: Food - so so. The crabs were rather disappointing :( The spinach was served in soup!! soupy fried vege.. definitely mummy's first try :P Think the crowd was too big to handle. Standard really CMI...

We headed to Changi Airport terminal 2 for Swenson ice-creams. You would be surprise to see the long queue at that hour: 9.30pm. Not getting enough, all of us gathered again at granny's home for a cake-cutting session... Wahlaoeh... by the time we reached home, it was 12.30am. That was soooo early >_<

Nevertheless, we had great fun despite some disappointing episodes.

Auntie HuiLi shared this interesting video of a 'JAM' artist. Very fasinating!! No matter how small your capability is, as long as you put effort in perfecting it. You'll be an expert... of that field of yours :) Your life is thus value creating. Just look at this artist... mummy think granny would be yelling at her top should this be my brother's doing :P Such unique aspiration will surely invite lots of challenges or voices of objection to be exact :D

As parents of 21st century, how should or would we react if our mini-me decide to go against the main stream and build their lives based on dreams. Hmmm... something to ponder though they are still budding, too young to defy.

Demi's curly hair has grown longer, slightly enough for 2 tiny pony-tails :)
Thanks to my genes, her mane is usually messy as these locks will never be in place, obediently :P So it is always a bad hair day for Demi. ROFL ROFL
You may sugguest tying or clipping to keep the hair neat. But this itchy-hand gal will always rip up any 'construction' on her head. Alas, the result is a messier look. CRAZY!!

Chong Pang Baby Show 2008

Demi has won a consolation prize in the Healthy Baby Show 2008, held at Chong Pang Community Centre. There were about 40 babies competing in the category of 12 month-18 month old. So glad that she was selected as one of the 10 winners, including top 3 winners.

Like what Auntie Jenny said, at least my enrolment fee of S$15 is worthwhile. ROFL!!

The winners were selected based on the development of the baby. They were tested using coloured storybook, wooden blocks, stackable bowls and other toys meant for brain development. Demi was asked to demo her walking capability and show off her almost-full-set teeth. At one time, Demi refused to flip the book as she wanted to have that bag of raisins instead. Maybe that's why she had some marks deducted :P

Anyway, mummy glad that this is all over and hope not to have any of this time-consuming competition again. From 8.30am to 1.00pm, this is simply crazy!!

Finally got the last batch of photo shots taken at the Cover Looks. Glad that mummy decided to develop these extra pictures. Though got to pay a small premium, it is worth the $$$ as such moments may never come by. Children grow and change everyday. Capturing the 'moment' is soooo important. Mummy and daddy are too busy and tired to make any blog update. Just keep it going with lots of pictures and if possible, videos :P This clip was taken on Father's Day, after a family dinner at Earl's Swenson T3. Demi really enjoys walking these days. She must have felt very 'free-spirited', i.e. to be able to explore where she actually wants to be, on her own feet :D But somehow her newly found assets (feet) are not too co-operative. Just look at her swaying walk. Every minute spells trouble and pain. ROFL. Well, all kids are going through this phase. Don't say mummy too stone-hearted when seeing this piggy falls. ROFL ROFL come one, let mummy laughs it out first, OK? hahahahahaha... look out for Demi's walking style: folding in her arms, like quacking duck :P or like aka old granny walk. OMG!! hehehehehehe

Mummy took a couple of pictures of Demi's sleeping style :P Do you realise Demi should be sleeping with her head on the other side of the sarong cradle? She must have waken up in middle of the night and flipped to sleep on the opposite end. Not to worry, mummy has secured the ends to prevent flipping falls :P Since birth, Demi can sleep through the night without making a fuss. She is one PIG sleeper. Mummy is so lucky (fingers-crossed)

Friday the 13th....

Ryan's care centre had been closed for Teachers' Training since Thursday. Daddy first took leave to 'baby-sit' Ryan. Mummy would cover the black Friday.

It is rather inconvenient for daddy to take annual leave as such days he has to return the company van to his office at Ayer Rajah. Afterward will be a long journey back home via bus and train. And by late noon, he will return to office to collect the van. So technically, a full day leave would leave him 'free' for only half a day. Sigh... with a rising cost of petrol and any other things else, having to use a company van is already a big benefit. We should not be complaining...

Since it was a routine to start the off-day from Ayer Rajah, daddy brought Ryan to Jurong East swimming complex. It was packed with exciting facilities like: Lazy River, Water Slides, Jacuzzi and Bubble Jet Station. It should be named the watery heaven for kids. Ryan enjoyed himself totally. Later they had KFC for lunch (so envious... :S ) and headed to National Library at Jurong Town Hall... for reading? :P Nope, for a short nap that Ryan so well-deserved. ROFL...

Next, they visited the waterworks at Singapore Science Centre for another hour of water fun. Wow... Daddy sure pampered Ryan to the bone :P (mummy also want...doncare...i wan...)

Mummy took over on the Black Friday. But I was too lazy to travel from place to place under such hot weather :P To me, anything aircon, I'd be fine. So we went for a movie instead. Mummy brought JieJie Lezanne (Auntie Jenny's daughter) along. When mummy thought I had make a brilliant move (to the movie), these 2 kids made at least 4 toilet trips during the show. FAINTZZZZ... auntie, I wan go toilet..... mummy, i wan go shishi... >_<

Next thing for sure, mummy headed home straight... I got to rest my head :P

Is it the end? NOPE, mummy had made an appointment with Cover Looks to take shots of Ryan and Demi. Especially Demi so as to enrol in the Cover Kids competition organised by Young Parents magazine. And we 'chiong' from Yishun all the way to Bukit Batok via bus and train. Most importantly, mummy geared with a mom-in-mind sling which made carrying a baby and grabbing a crazy pre-schooler at the same time possible. Phew! My efforts were well worth as the pictures turned out really great!

Shall post them as soon as they are collected... Meanwhile, it is a waiting game...

Demi has curly hair since birth. Should be inherited from mummy as I have had curly hair when at birth (but slowly straightened after full-month shave). And we thought these curls would thus be 'straightened' after a complete shave.

Demi's walking!!

Mummy is really busy these days. Lots of challenges at work, with friends and of course, on Ryan's behaviour at school. So much so that there is no update on Demi's latest achievement: walking without support.

Demi took her first walk (more than 4 steps) at our monthly discussion meeting on 24 May 2008. As all of us sat in circles, Demi found herself in central attraction at the heart of circle. Initially she crawled and walked with support (with the help of aunties and uncles) around the circle. Then she took us by surprise by letting go of the hands and started walking in small steps! Lots of wow & ah, of course! She got more encouraged and continued to walk on her own despite many small falls. WahKao! So Teochiew! hehehehehehhehehehhehehehehehhehehehehe.....

Meanwhile, Ryan got his good-boy-chop on monday and tuesday... Improvement... ;)

No chop on wednesday too... Ummm... must have been running around during class again. Sigh! Ryan claimed that teacher did not bring the chop... So lame excuse, chey...

Mummy needed to bring Demi for her Chicken Pox vaccination at Raffles Hospital on this noon. As the timing was late noon, mummy might not have the time to rush back to fetch Ryan off school. Therefore, 2 monsters... I mean precious were brought along. Without daddy's ahmad service, mummy got to struggle through bus and MRT rides, from Yishun to Bugis. Phew! Ryan slept inbetween the rides. We were fortunate to have seats given up to us.

Before writing about the jab, mummy needed to do some justice to Ryan. Managed to meet Fan laushi when picking up Ryan to the jab visit. She said there were no chinese lessons for the past 2 days; thus she was not able to 'chop' him. Before leaving, she 'chopped' Ryan for his good behaviour on thursday. Wow, mummy so proud leh... Sorry boy, mummy thought you had lied :P

Back to the hospital, Demi got a clean bill from Dr Veronica Toh. She was really gentle and detailed in examining my baby girl. For record, Demi weighs 9.8 kgs and 76.5 cm at height. Only 75 percentile... (compared to Ryan's 90/95 percentile) OK. not too bad since mummy doesn't want Demi to be overweight too :P Demi only let out a 'Wah' when jabbed. After which she was happily playing with those toys on doctor's table. Faintzz! got to be her thick plump skin that she felt little or no pain :D
For her rashes at ankles, Dr Toh prescribed a medicated cream and a moisturiser cream to be applied for about 5 days. Shall feedback if the creams help.

Also, Dr Toh took a look at Ryan's tongue. Mummy thought he might need some snip at the muscle holding too much of his tongue thus caused his misproununciation of S & F. Well, Dr Toh said, OK lah, he has a long tongue! ROFLROFLROFL... Just need to let him practise more on speech. Phew!!

After the visit, it was another long trip back via MRT and bus. Ryan doozed off again. Sigh... VERY TIRING!!

Teacher forget to bring 'Chop'???

Asked Ryan if he behaved well in class today. Mummy could see no stamp on his hand. Alas, Ryan might still need more time to learn... Caught us by surprise, Ryan said, ' teacher never bring chop today. That's why Ryan no chop on hand.' When questioned his claim, he said, ' yes mummy, teacher no bring chop!'

Sigh, either he was telling the truth or making up a really good 'story'. Mummy shall check with Fan Laushi tomorrow...

Mummy continue to follow closely with the teachers on Ryan's behaviour and work progress. Teachers are asked to call mummy every time Ryan gets out of hand. Should it get serious, I will take time off from office and 'bring' Ryan back. Ryan is fully aware of the arrangement. Or so I thought...

Complaint call rang once when Ryan cut his own hair with the handicraft scissors. Reason, he wanted to cut his hair nice nice. FAINTZ.. Teacher could not stop him from the mischief thus got me on the line to do the 'command in the air'. Luckily Ryan stopped as soon as he heard me on the phone. Well, it seems this 'calling your mummy' works for him now. Fingers-crossed.

Think those half-threat, half-reward stuffs still managed to get into his head. Ryan showed mummy his 'good-boy-chop' proudly today. 'Mummy, I m good boy today. I got settle down for class, never run around. Fan Lau Shi gimme this giraffe.'
Gosh, mummy so proud! At least my boy is not all bad (self-praise)...

Mummy made sure Ryan was showered with lots of praises and recognition. Daddy also promised to give him the Ben10 toy watch (which we bought from our last BKK trip) after he got 'chopped' for this whole week. Too much to ask? Well, let's try, he may surprise us :P

Happy Mother's Day!

It was a mini paper bag shaped like a heart with a 'love note' in it. Ryan's declaration of love to mummy. How sweet!
Like a warm hug for mummy, this gift serves as a reminder that Ryan is afterall a kid. Mummy has been bugged by the CC teachers' negative feedback on Ryan's behaviour. They claimed Ryan would not want to get involved in class yet loved to disturb the others during the teaching. Teachers hope I could talk to him.

Talk reason to a 4 year old boy? Don't know about other parents, mummy and daddy actually feel rather helpless in this field.
Ryan is obedient, or at least controllable when mummy is around. Other time he loves to be 'carefree'. Daddy said Ryan has mentioned to him that the classes are boring and he asked why he needs to attend. FAINTZZ...

We need professional help. Stickers/reward system does not work on him. Time-out leaves no trace on him. Reasoning/dialogue flies out of his left ear as soon as it enters his right. SIAO!!!! KNOCK HEAD ON WALL!!
Mummy can't be sitting by his side during school time, right? That's does not solve the problem at its root. But what else can we do?

We suspect that such attention seeking behaviour may be caused by our new addition at home: Demi. Somehow it must have some impact on him. Meanwhile this little monster, not yet walk on her own, has learned to climb up and down from sofa.

A trip to Bangkok : mini honeymoon

Mummy and daddy went for a 3 days 2 nights trip to Bangkok last weekend. It was like a mini honeymoon break for us since Auntie Jenny agreed to help take care of our two precious. A BIG THANK U to Auntie Jenny!!

Together with Auntie Jennifer, Uncle Daniel, Auntie Wendy, Uncle Mike, Auntie Rebecca and her cousin, we set off to our first overseas trip without kid baggage :P

It was also our first flight with Thai Airway and it was our first landing at the new Bangkok airport: Suvarnabhumi Airport . Really excited about this trip. Especially to mummy since my last overseas trip was in November 2006 to Phuket Clubmed, when I was 5 month pregnant. Gosh!! It was so long ago, considering Demi is about 14 month old now.

Upon arrival, we were caught in traffic jam while on the way to our hotel, Arnoma Hotel. There again, our first stay. Our usual bunk is at Asia Hotel... kind of cheap & value deal type :P
Thanks to Auntie Wendy for her recommendation. This hotel really served us well. Great breakfast spread, clean and spacious room (with TUB!!), next to Big C shopping mall and near to all town shopping centres. We will definitely return on our next trip.

As it was rather late when we were finally ready for shopping. MBK shopping center was our first stop. Thanks to the help of walkie-talkies, we gang stayed contactable without the high cost of mobile phoning. Alas, our disappointment came when the restuarant we wanted to gang dine at was closed for cleaning. Uncle Daniel was really saddened as he wanted to eat the famous roasted pig :P Fortunately his crave was satisfied (partially) at Nam-Xing restaurant along Yaowaraj Road (Chinatown). We had roasted pig, shark fin soup, deep fried fish, butter mushroom, scallop brocolli, claypot prawns for only 4000+ baht. Gosh!! Very economical meal!! Yummy, mummy drooling as I typed. Faintzz! As everyone was too highly strung due to the trip excitement. We went for some massages. Daddy opted for a traditional thai massage and mummy, a neck-shoulder-back massage. With lots of tickling and laughter, we headed back to our hotel an hour later. Really fun to hang out in group. Mummy missed the silly jokes and tears (too much of laughing)...

Chatuchak Weekend Market was a must-go for mummy. It took up our entire second day and packed it with lots of sweats and even some fear... Daddy almost got pickpocketed during the squeezing shopping spree. He had put his wallet on his thigh pocket of his bermudas. Served him right! That was definitely a 'come, take me' location. Luckily, Lady Luck was on his side. He felt the pick almost immediately and managed to get hold of the wallet. The culprit slipped away as soon as our eyes blinked. Phew! Nothing was lost and no one was hurt. That was the best ending. We were both on high guard after this scare. We had Sizzler's steak for dinner at MBK while the rest of gand headed for MK restaurant (BBQ) at Big C. Dinner was great if not for the terribly picky old white couple. They picked on everything that was served to them. The steaks were not done 'right', the wine was not chilled enough, the salad spread was too limited etc. WAHKAO!! Really pity the manager who was spinning to and fro to meet the couple's demand. Not that feedback was not important. Just rather overboard to ask for a change of steak twice... Didn't like it? Don't come again lah! FAINTZ! Later, we planned to go for a movie since it was practically impossible back in Singapore, with the two precious around. But after the dinner, both of us were too drained to go anywhere except our hotel room. Gosh, age really caught with us :P

On day 3, we ventured into Pratunam Market to do our last minute shopping. Alas, though there were lots of nice and cheap clothings, mummy could not fit into most of them. Sob, Sob, Sob... If only, they had them in just one size bigger...if only... Well, mummy managed to grab 2 dresses, some tees and some accessories. Not too bad :D
Next, we returned to MBK to get our beloved green-bean paste desserts. They were made in rich-coloured flavoured skins and various fruity shapes. Yummy!! But sad to say, most gone spoilt by the time we touched down in Singapore. Chey!! At 37 degree C, Bangkok was too hot to keep anything fresh.

When we thought the adventure had finally reached its end, another hurdle occurred. Our luggages came out soaking wet! Faintz!! Fortunately, most of our shopping stuffs were in tact. Thanks to mummy for insisting plastic packing for all items. But our suitcase was a goner. It was too wet for future use. We filed a claim to NTUC income on the loss. Hopefully we could get a replacement soon.

Mummy caught Ryan scribbling on a paper thoughfully. He was writing his name in both chinese 张博竣 and english, Ryan Teo Bo Jun. Wah!! How proud :P The childcare center is benefial afterall, excluding the horrible HFMD and bad habits.. LOL

And a rare picture of mummy with two precious. We went for a lunch meet-up with Jie Jie Loan and her parents at Yum Cha, Chinatown. Daddy managed to take this shot before we headed home. Uncle Do (Jie Jie Loan's dad) had a great time with the precious. He is such a gentle and patient uncle. We hope to see you in Switzerland next time!!

Farewell Mr Phua, may U rest in peace...

Mummy and daddy took hours off from work this afternoon to attend the casket procession. We wanted to bid our last goodbye to Mr Phua.

The casket was scheduled to leave at 4pm for Mandai Crematorium and Columbarium Complex At the praying ceremony, the spouse was present throughout. She mostly sat by the side with a sunken face when the priest and relatives of deceased were performing the ritual. When the ceremony ended, she grabbed the children home to do 'don't know what chore'! Faintz!! The procession got to wait for them before the fateful send-off. Luckily the casket in-charge followed her to prevent any MIA, just in case... It was delayed another 15 minutes when the spouse and children were finally got ready.

The rest was rather swift, too quick to mark the end of a person... The coffin was mechanically pushed in and that was it: a life was gone... Sigh...couldn't help but sob while saying our last goodbye to our neighbour. If only, if only...

All relatives gathered at the entrance of the Crematorium for the ritual wash-up. Mummy heard a loud 'thub' suddenly! Before I could see clearly, the spouse had fallen on the floor. Next was loud exchange of curse and swear between the spouse and Mr Phua's relatives. Should the casket in-charge failed to stand between them, a fight might have erupted. When we reached home, the police came to take down statement. The spouse reported that Mr Phua's relatives attacked her. Faintzz!! As if there was not enough trouble. Anyway, the police left soon after, no arrest was made.

We learned from Mr Phua's niece that their main concern was the two daughters. They would consult the legal procedures to protect the interest of these two girls.

Meanwhile, the spouse secured her leverage tightly. Not even school is allowed. The trio were last seen loitering around the neighbourhood. Some heard that she wants to bring the children back to her Malaysia hometown. Sigh, the fate of these two girls is worrying... Hopefully the relatives can save them in time.

Black Sunday

This news side-tracked from the purpose of this blog. Not about how naughty or healthy our precious are now. Not about how daddy messed up mummy's birthday. It is about the dark side of life, DEATH.

Our Neighbour, Mr Phua, had jumped to his death. He had given up the right to live as his separating wife had once again burdened him with another big sum of loan-shark amount. He had been 'paying up' since their courtship time. After 10 over years of marriage and 2 young daughters, he decided to call it quit. Quit of his own precious life.

Whatever could be reported had already been published at today's Shin Min Daily News. All had been pending for police further investigation.

As a neighbour of 9 years, we had witnessed this faithful husband and father took care of the household with such care and dedication. He was always with his two daughters, fetching them to and fro school. He was always coaching his children on school works or simply watching TV with them. A 24/7 family man. As for the wife, we need not say more, she is entirely opposite of her spouse. In fact, she is rather 'famous' within our neighbourhood for her notorious character and of course, her uncountable loan from the neighbourhood. How can she get so many loan from the neighbours with such reputation? Call her a Golden Horse Award winner. There are still gullible people around these days.

I could remember when we first moved into this place, she came knocking my door for a $500 loan. She claimed that her husband damaged his company's property (aircon servicing industry) and badly needed the money for repayment. Daddy thought this excuse was rather lame. For such small sum of money, you would get help from your family or friends, NOT a new neighbour. And she did not want us to talk about this with her husband, claiming he would be shy and angry. How deceiving! We turned her down, saying we had no spare cash. (and it is true! Hahaha... :D)

It is a bottomless pit when you need to 'feed' a compulsive gambler. Last Good Friday was a dipping point when those loan-shark runners came splashing paint at Mr Phua's door. The police came to survey the damage. Ever since, Mr Phua had moved out to a relative's place for the safety of his children. And one week later, his crashed body was found at Clementi.

When all thought this was the end, the spouse made a big fuss. (Expected actually) She denied all claim about her gambling addiction and began her 'show-time'. First, she refused to allow his niece to claim the boby for proper funeral, saying it was his family who had caused his jump. She was the wife, she would handle it.( Come on, she had no money to do it herself!) After some 'tug-of-war, she agreed. (CHEY!! So big deal, get the funeral yourself!) At the funeral, she was behaving like a crazy person, yelling and crying and struggling, demanding to see her daughters. The police had no control on her at all. She was deeply into her 'show'. The police advised the family to return the daughters to this crazy woman so as to shut her up. When she got hold her new leverage, she claimed to kill the children and eer.. herself if she was 'pushed' to the limit. CHEYCHEYCHEY...

When we arrived home in the evening, I managed to talk to the elder daughter (primary 3) to shower her with encouragement. She was calm and nodded to show her determination to undertake her new task as a big sister cum father to her K2 sister. The spouse was present at the scene. She yelled, Don't worry! She will soon join her father! DAMN IT!!! I kept my cool and ignored her to my exit.

At the funeral, we learned from the niece that Mr Phua had been receiving numerous threatening calls from the spouse. He had NO means to pay up those loan and yet he did not want his children to meet any harm. This woman had grabbed at his weakest point, the children. Getting himself drunk was the only way to forget the sorrow. It might be the persuasion of liquar that gave him the 'courage' to take the plunge...

It is too late for anything now. Though as buddhists, we know every existence and demise are linked by karmic relation. But this is still too hard for us to bear especially he is someone we have known. Lots of 'if only' in our mind now... one thing for sure, we have learned to treasure our loved ones and friends, including neighbours even more.

Just prayed that the casket procession on this thursday will be a smooth one. The spouse may strike anytime since she is like a wounded lioness. Piling a huge debt on her shoulder, she IS at her wits end. The two daughters' lives may be in danger... sigh...

HFMD is back!!

Mummy received a notice from Carecorner that reported a case of HFMD in the centre. And worse, the child was from Ryan's class: K1. FAINTZZ. When we came fetch Ryan from school, his teacher reminded us to keep Ryan clean and hydrate at all times. While chatting, teacher turned to ask Ryan if he was feeling any discomfort, especially at the mouth, you know what? Ryan said yes! FAINTZZ FAINTZZ! Then Ryan continued to point his head, his limbs and back where he felt pain. ALAMAK!! liddat everywhere pain lah! Luckily his teacher knew he was being manja and jokingly laughed it off. Phew!! Else me got to burn a week leave to take care this fake-sick child. -_-

Nevertheless, we got to keep up with the cleaning part. Better be safe than sorry :P

And Demi is back to her angelic sleeping pattern. HUGZ! We are going to celebrate her birthday... again at our monthly discussion meeting this saturday. Due to our limited space at our humble house, many district uncles and aunties were not present at the earlier party. This time we shall sing and cut a cake, have a mini party! Daddy has ordered a Hello Minnie cake come with fresh cream and fresh mangoes from Bengawan Solo. Yummy!!

Demi has been an angel sleeper since birth, dozing from 7pm+ till the next morning 6am+. (No Nite Feed!! You can imagine the amount milk powder mummy has saved, not considering the expressed breast milk lah :P) Well, everything has its first, Demi was cranky from 3am to daybreak yesterday :( It might due to the teething pain that was hard to soothe. She practically 'meow' in her half-sleeping mode: MEOW, MEOW... and dozed off... MEOW, MEOW again...and dozed off.
This battle was too hard to fight. Mummy just made sure Demi was safe in her cradle, shut the doors and hit back to my bed.

Demi was still sobbing when we sent her to Auntie Jenny's place... so sad :( Think would bring her to SBCC at AMK in the evening. Checked with Auntie Jenny at noon, Demi was fast asleep. Must have been tired out after the whole nite MEOW :P

By evening, we were glad that Demi had back to her usual bubbly self. Auntie Jenny claimed she had 'cure' her by showering lots of love & hugs. Demi is really 'manja'! She needs the attention so as to pacify her mood. WahKao!! BTH!!

Well, bet you know what mummy would do tonight... sing Demi a soft, sweet lullaby! (except that mummy got to do it with my sore husky voice :P)

Teething Monster is here!!

To date, Demi is 9.4 kgs with 8 teeth (4 top & 4 bottom). These 8 teeth have been around for sometime with no sign of new tooth budding... Well, after the birthday, everything seems to accelerate. Demi's pre-molars are budding, I guess (by touch).

Demi got heated up till 39 degreeC since the Good Friday. Her constant mourning was too heart-breaking. And worst, mummy had to be away for a one-night camp. Daddy had to take over the sickly gal. Thanks daddy :-* Initially, we thought this might be due to the bad weather. Too much heaty biscuits... It was only when she refused her favourite ribena that we realised it might be her painful gums! Silly parents.. FAINTZ! We had totally forgotten that she is still in teething age. Sigh, silly us...

The teething gel had came to the rescue. The first application managed to soothe Demi to dreamland. At last, the mourning had stopped. Phew!! Demi slept through the night in peace...

Left her with Auntie Jenny this morning before we rushed to work. Mummy asked Auntie Jenny to rub on the teething gel diligently to stop her cat-meow mourning. HUGZ baby, mummy misses U :-*

Sssswish! One year has passed! Our dear Demi is ONE year old. Mummy decided to hold a small party (compared to Ryan's 1st)for Demi, inviting some friends and relatives to celebrate the occasion. Not being unfair to Demi, mummy just felt tt our humble house could only take this many of guests (based on past experience :P) Anything more will be overcrowding!!! Phew!

Mummy has used Hello Kitty theme for this party. This should be a common theme and thus easier to get those related party stuffs. Daddy managed to find one goodies stall at Jurong West, settled most of the preparation. The party decoration was based on two colours tone: Purple and Pink. Mummy got the trimming, balloons & tablecloths of these two colours from Tekka Mall. Those gift shops previously from Concourse have moved to this new mall. Also, we ordered a Hello Kitty cake from Polar & Puff. It was both yummy look & taste. Really a great buy! Thanks to the recommendation by auntie Rebecca. :-*

Some pictures taken at the party... Entertaining and photo-shooting at the same time are just not so possible... mummy is lucky to have these few shots taken. Phew!!

Cake cutting video was not so perfect as daddy did not tape from the beginning. Well, he was shouting 'one more time', 'one more time' so as to capture the moment again...Alas, no one was really listening... all focus on Demi's yummy cake, I reckon. At least better than nothing (like Ryan's -_-)

Next on the list, Grab-a-future! See Demi grabbed the item that symbolises her future. From the video, she is meant to a scholar next time! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA... HOHOHOOHOHOOHOHO.... HEHHEHEHEHHEHEE... (as if :P) But cannot deny, we had so much FUN that day. Thank you all, my friends & relatives that made it so.. HUGZZZ

Demi has started her mini steps with the help of walker (push-cart type) since 11 month old. Rather slow I reckon as Ryan started his unsupported steps at slightly over 1 year old. Girls should be a faster developer, others said. Some could do it below 10 month old. Sigh, think Demi's chubby overall did weigh her down alittle. Hahaha...

Mummy managed to take a short clip of her making those little steps... Such sweet memories :-* How mummy loves technology for that :)

Also, just loaded this clip taken at the Children Playland of the Singapore Zoo. Though the pool is rather shallow, the water is super duper COLD! Brrrr....
Demi played for a short while before mummy wrapped her up like MUMMY BABY :D
One thing to note, got to ensure no dried leave (floating on pool) is eaten along the way. LOL!!

This is Demi's recent trick: wiping table/floor/chair/etc etc etc...
Initially mummy thought Demi will bite on the napkin or cloth since she is so into tasting anything and everything she can get hold of. Well, surprisingly Demi can resist the biting urge and start to clean as she goes. Hahaha... a potential helper at home. Hopefully not too much mess instead, fingers crossed :-P

My nurse friend sent this and encouraged me to

If everyone can remember something this simple,

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:

During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall,
she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered
to call paramedics) .....she said she had just tripped
over a brick because of her new shoes.

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of
food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went
about enjoying herself the rest of the evening.

Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his
wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 pm Ingrid
passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ.
Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke,
perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some don't die,
they end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.

It only takes a minute to read this...

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim
within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a
stroke... totally . He said the trick was getting a stroke
recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient
medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE
Thank God for the sense to remember the
'3' steps, STR . Read and Learn!

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify.
Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The
stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when
people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke .

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke

S * Ask the individual to SMILE.

Too quick to mark Demi's growth, she threw up her morning milk on the second day of her 11th month. Like a merlion, she threw up every drop of fluid together with some yellowish substance. Yuck! She was running a temperature...

But mummy had promised to visit Auntie Aggie at 10am today. She needs some kids to grace the opening of her daughter's new flat at Jurong. According to the fengshui master, this will bring prosperity and kids to the new couple :)
So no matter what, we had to get there on time. We wouldn't want to spoil people's fengshui in any case :-P

During the visit, Demi threw up a couple more time. At last, the visit ended at about 11.45am. We rushed home to settle Demi as by now, she was naked and had no dry clothes for change. Luckily she managed to sleep soundly in sling on the way home.

Demi hit the sarong cradle as soon as we reached home. Cranky at first thus mummy gave her about 2 ounces of milk, just to try... Think she might have missed her cradle, Demi slept soundly throughout and was clean for the rest of the day. No more puke. 2 more feedings and 3 poos, she was back to her normal self :D Phew!

Festive Fun

Our family visited the Singapore River Hongbao 2008 on the 3rd day of the lunar new year. This was such a big mistake for a family with young kids like us. It was flooded with people + lots of sweat & bad smell (smelly tofu). Only managed to let Ryan took the car ride that cost S$7.50 per ride (so ex!!!!)

Worst Birthday Ever!

Initially Auntie Jenny supposed to babysit both Ryan and Demi on the whole saturday so that mummy and daddy could be out celebrating my birthday. Unfortunately she had an urgent commitment and the kiddos had to stick with us. OK...Plan B :(

Nevertheless, we could always celebrate it at our very own home. It would be nice to cook up sumptous meals and enjoy them at the comfort of home. No table manner to be observed as kiddos could make noise or a mess. No embarassment :P

So we bought all the ingredients on the day before. ALl our favourites. Really looking forward to the day. Or so I thought...

Daddy had to spoil the mood at the strike of twelve. He dumped an unwrapped box on the bed for me. How 'romantic'! What the heck, at least he bothered. No excitement at all since the box was totally not secured. Opened the cover, it was a Gucci sunglasses. To some might think, WOW, GUCCI leh. So nice!
But folks, this was a super AUNTIE design sunglasses with the G logos on both sides. And this cost $300! FAINTZ FAINTZ FAINTZ

My heart broken into pieces. This was not what I expected or needed. Actually I would rather have no gift but a special day he would plan for me. Sorry that I did not hide my disappointment at all. Cool, mummy. Daddy just dumb. He would try his best to make it better. Or so I thought...

It was morning and I was waiting for his remedy to save the day. Nothing happened. He watched cartoons with kiddos and pretended nothing had happened. Well, my tummy could not wait. I got to cook and feed myself.

Thickened my skin, I asked for my birthday cake. Days ago I had told him that I would love to have my own birthday cake. I had never really have one, usually those off the shelf. And many times, I had none. So this year I would love to have one ordered just for me.

That's my last hope... But he said he had no time to order it. sorry.

No lunch. Dinner at macdonald's. The end.

Advice to all: Take the money and get your own gift. Most men are just too dumb.

Confirmed, Stamped. Ryan has recovered.

No more vomiting, no more fever and whining. Ryan is back to his own cheeky self but with alot less mass. His hamster cheeks have vanished, giving him a pointed chin. Poor boy :( Mummy is actually happy to see his notti self again. This kid is healthy again.

Mummy's stomach flu gets better too. No more 'chionging' loo and bloated stomach. Really got to take good care of the health. Or else the coming Chinese Lunar New Year will be an 'eye' event : can see, cannot eat! FAINTZ

Ryan's school bag is all packed and ready. He is going to school tomorrow!

Expensive medication works!

Could not believe it :O Granny reported that Ryan was jumping on sofa and bed and even attempted to climb on her metal gate! Sure this kid was the same one lying on bed like a dead fish days ago? Gosh! Expensive medication did work like a deity antidote! Ryan's appetite returned too. He had been asking for more serving of porridge but smart granny talked him out, saying he had just recovered and might puke if too much intake at one go.

On the other hand, Carecorner called to ask about Ryan's condition and informed mummy that there were a few more cases of stomach flu in the school. Sigh! Think got to let Ryan home-bound for this week :(

The initial plan was to let Ryan stay at Granny's place till Friday. However, with Ryan back to his notti self, he irritated Grandpa and Uncle Denson. So much so that Uncle Denson called mummy to get him out of their sight. Sigh... No choice. worse come to worst, let Ryan goes back to school then...

Fortunately, granny volunteered (again) to babysit Ryan at our own home, away from the two hard-to-please grandpa and uncle. Hahaha... But this also mean granny got to be at our place at 7am. Wow, that is so early! Thanks, granny!

The stomach virus hit mummy too! Though taken one day MC at home, I got to care for the whine-prince, Ryan too :( Ryan was off school since monday as he could not take any food yet. He would vomit even only plain water was given. SIAO!!! Seeing him lying lifelessly on bed really pained mummy's heart. But what to do? Mummy was as sick :P

Brought Ryan to Singapore Baby & Child clinic at Ang Mo Kio in the evening. Dr Phua prescribed a stronger medication. Hopefully I could see result very soon. Meanwhile, going to child care center was out of the question. Fortunately granny volunteered to babysit Ryan for this week. This was a life-saver as mummy and daddy could not afford any more leave or MC. Work had been piling like mountain. Sigh...

Missing Ryan already...

Heat continues...

Ryan spent the whole weekend lying on bed. Fever came on and off. He could hardly eat. Think the bloating stomach made him full the whole day. Temperature hit the highest at 39.2 degree C just before bedtime on saturday. Gave him a stronger fever medicine. Fortunately he sweated out by 1am and temperature came back to 36.4 degree C. Daddy was thinking if by then the heat continued to linger, Ryan got to be sent to the hospital!

As for Demi, she got so much better on Sunday. She was back to usual active self. Just got to separate her from Ryan. the sickly chap :-P Also, she could call, gorgor to Ryan! At least something pleasant for this weekend :-)

Meanwhile mummy got her stomachache throughout the nights. Sigh! This virus is sure a tough one!! Daddy was feeling some discomfort too. FAINTZZ...

Carecorner called at noon, informed mummy that Ryan had thrown out his lunch. No fever at the moment but he sure looked restless. Sigh... this is one super virus! Spreading fast in our family. Friday is always a busy day for mummy. Daddy is out at site in Tuas. No chance to fetch him back early. Sorry, Ryan. Got to come fetch you at usual knock-off time...

Update more later...

Mummy knocked off at 4pm, simply could not wait till the usual 6pm. Teacher from CareCorner called to inform that Ryan had puked again. This time he was wailing for mummy. How Sad! :( No choice. Got to go. Daddy was still at work site at Tuas. Mummy got to go...

Took Ryan to our family doctor and was given medication for stomach flu and fever. She even prescribed a supportory tablet to be inserted should the fever go out of hand. Temperature: 38.8 degree celsius.

Ryan hit the sack as soon as the medication was given. He slept for 2 hours before the dinner was served. Only soupy porridge was allowed. By then the fever was fading off and Ryan could swallow his dinner, not much but at least some...

Ryan threw up! After 1 hour later. Mummy got to clean the mess. Worst of all, he threw up at the carpet. FAINTZZ Daddy still not back from work... Only until 10pm+ could he make it home.

Virus attack!!

Got a call from Auntie Jenny just before lunch. Demi was feeling feverish again :( This time bad cough and runny nose had returned too. Seems like it was a bad flu and the usual GP medication could not 'kill' it by the root. Mummy made an last mintue appointment with Dr Veronica Toh at Raffles Hospital on the same day afternoon. Really grateful that Boss Wilbert gave the go-ahead for this urgent leave application, without even asked why.

Demi gave me that come-sayang-me look when mummy arrived at Auntie Jenny's place. Gosh, she got such rosy cheeks! The heat got to be quite high then :( It was fortunately a smooth ride via the MRT from Yishun to Bugis station. Demi was alert and was self-entertaining herself with a pacifier. We were also lucky to be offered a seat. Else with this long distance, mummy's back was sure to 'break' :P

At the Children's Centre at Raffles Hospital, we got to wait for our turn after those with appointment. Reached there at 2.15pm and out by 4.15pm. Faintz!! Dr Toh mentioned that Demi was having a virus attack. She needed antibiotics to clear the infection or the temperature would not improve. Total 5 types of medication for the cough/phlegm, runny nose and protection of the wind pipe. Bill: S$146.50 FAINTZZ...

Just like Agent Smith said, this is inevitable. Though feeling unwell, Demi could still sleep through the night without stir. She is truely a 'Pig' :P

Sigh... Praying hard for Demi's speedy recovery...

Shanghai Surprise!

Daddy took some pictures at Shanghai and commented the foods were rather unsuitable for him. Either too oily or too blend :P Also, after many reports about food scare, he was really worried if the meat served was really what they claimed to be. FAINTZ! So, he brought nothing home from there. No usual local tibits... :( Furthermore the cost of living there is really high. Some of the items cost almost the same as in Singapore! Actually mummy wants nothing from there, so no loss for me either :P

Daddy is back! A big relief to mummy... Phew!!
Everyone is glad to have the sanity back. Think even Kiki and Pearly are happy to see their daddy is back, so are their yummy treats :P (mummy hardly gives them treats)

Daddy's flight landed at Changi Airport newest terminal, T3. Mummy and kiddos took Bus no. 858 from Yishun and reached the new terminal in about 30 minutes. That was really fast and economical. T3 is packed with lots of interesting restaurants and shops. Mummy managed to grab my favourite Huober pretzels from Candy Empire.

All back to normal, sanity has returned, phew!

Mummy brought Demi for doctor consultation again to get medication for cough and runny nose. Auntie Jenny had informed that Demi could not drink well. It might be due to the sore throat, she suspected. Actually mummy was almost at breaking point. Got to clear those poos and mess left by Kiki and Pearly (They broke free from their playpen). Mummy got to practically sanitise the whole living room and kitchen. What a mess!!! Then followed by Ryan's bath time. All done at such high speed as the clinic was closing soon. On a empty stomach, you have a crazy and angry woman here :P

In the mist of this madness, Auntie Jenny volunteered to babysit Demi through the night so that I could rest well. Her touching words, Never mind lah, tomorrow night (friday) I can sleep until next day noon cos saturday liao mah! Hahaha...
Oh my, isn't she an angel? My mum may not even do that...Mummy is tearing...

Though back home without Demi, mummy could not tuck in early. Why? Ryan ran out of cleaned school uniforms tomorrow!!! Madness!! Mummy got to do the laundry and specially 'aircon-dry' the uniforms through the night. What a shame :P
Really missed you so much, daddy! Bet you've no gut to say if there is any delay of flight. Sure to skin you!! >_<

Reminded Ryan to behave in classes. The latest feedback was quite good. Though needed quite abit of reminder, Ryan's behaviour had improved. Fingers-crossed.

The heat is ON :(

Babysitter Jenny called to inform that Demi was feeling feverish and didn't take much milk or porridge. She took the initiative to feed her some fever medicine but advised me to bring her for doctor consultation after my work.

Sigh! Such things always happen when daddy is not around. He is off to Shanghai for a seminar till 12 January. As soon as daddy set off, mummy is stuck with a runny nose. Now, Demi's turn. FAINTZ!

Doctor commented that since there were no rashes or infection in her throat, Demi might be having a sympton called, fake measles. This is like having fever on and off for four days, with no cough or running nose, and eventually some rashes break out. Sound scary! Well, we can only wait and monitor as we go.

Demi did get better after the medication. She could finish 180ml of expressed milk. After she was crawling around like usual. She hit the sack at 10pm, woke up twice in the night. Luckily she fell back to slumberland as soon as mummy switched on the automated sarong cot. Heng!!! Technology, mummy loves U :-P

Another teacher commented that Ryan had refused to visit the toilet before nap. Excuse: He had already cleared the tide. But teacher had insisted since Ryan has the tendency to wet his bed every now and then :P Well, tug of war again... Sigh...

She also mentioned that Ryan could not sit through her short lesson. He was easily influenced by other kids who were running around the class. So, it was like, people run, he run lor. FAINTZ...

To stay consistant, mummy made Ryan stand-by-gate again before dinner and bath. bawling and begging as usual. Sigh, it really pains mummy's heart to do that. But I got to do something, or else his bad behaviour will escalate!

I must persist on! Let's see if Ryan improve afterall... Praying hard!

Complaint from teacher >_<

Mummy managed to meet Ryan's K1 form teacher for the first time today. First greeting: Mrs Teo, can I speak to you for a moment? (didn't sound pleasant at all :p)

Teacher: Mrs Teo, I need your help. Ryan has behaviour problem in class. He loves to cry. When he beats people, can. When people beat him back, he cannot.

Mummy: Have you tried to discipline him? Like a notti-corner or something? His previous teacher has handled him quite well. You may want to talk Teacher XX (she has been transfered to a new centre)

Teacher: I know. But he is not a N2 anymore, you know. He cannot behave like one. Also, I got no time to handle him alone. To be fair, I need to spend my time on other kids also. He also likes to run around during class. I asked him to write, he will write half way and start to run around to disturb others.

Mummy: How do you want me to help?

Teacher: You can help teach him to behave lah. He is already K1, cannot behave like a N2.

Mummy: Ok, I'll try.

Frankly, I was already boiling mad inside after the conversation. It is undeniable that Ryan is playful and can be a handful to handle. But how a child behave in the class should be the teacher's responsibility, isn't it? I can only warn and remind him of the preferred behaviour. During class, the teacher has to set and enforce her class rules, not the parents! What does she want me to do? Join her class with a cane on my hand, sit besides Ryan???

'Best' part is when she mentioned she got no time to handle this wild kid cos she needs to spend her time on others. Of course! I'm not paying for a one-to-one class. But at the least bit, she should HANDLE her class as a whole, just like what other teachers have done. Cannot understand why all previous teachers have no such problem but her. SO MADDENING!

Also, Ryan has turned 4 years old a couple of months ago. In term of development, he is practically still a Nursery toddler! Her constant mention that Ryan is a K1, not N2 anymore, really pissed me off! What Attitute!!!

Anyway, mummy never let Ryan off so easily. Ryan was made to stand at door gate for a whole hour before he was allowed for dinner and bath. Then he continued the isolation in the house near the gate. Well, lots of bawling and begging expected. But mummy insisted and Ryan did manage to complete the timed-out.

After, Ryan was drilled in with these 2 procodures:
1) should the classmates push or hit him, cannot retaliate. Run to teacher and inform her of the 'disturbance'.
2) during lesson time, must sit down and finish the worksheet. cannot run around.

Mummy made him repeat and enact the procedures many times. Hopefully he could response in the preferred way. Sigh! Really, what can a parent do to make such young kid behave in class when the parent him/herself is not at the place to monitor?
Am I wrong to think that this should be the teacher's responsibilty?
This is my first time... please, anyone can enlighten me?

Demi's crawling!!

There is a saying that girls usually develop faster than boys. It is so true when come to Demi. She is crawling at 9 month old! Don't know about other kids, she is definitely much faster than Ryan. There are many attempts to walk with support. Mummy can foresee this is one active girl :-)

Time really passes so fast! Demi is turning one in a couple of months soon. Mummy can still remember the big round tummy last December. Time truly waits for no one. Ryan is going on the big 5, a Kindergarten 1 preschooler. Oh my, mummy is feeling the heat of getting Ryan ready for the Primary 1. Think the coming weeknights have to be filled with assessment books and worksheets. But this is ONE BIG LAZY MUMMY you are looking at! Sigh...

X'mas Presents for all

Christmas is really a 'money-spending' season. Mummy not talking about the little gifts bought for friends and relatives, but for our two little precious at home. Don't know about other parents, mummy feels so deprived of getting something nice for them. Just pity that their folks are not loaded thus cannot afford those 'enriching' classes or toys. Most essential items are usually bought 2nd-hand from auctions. So mummy got this good reason to pamper them, just once in a blue moon, in this holiday season.

For Ryan, besides the earlier Thomas Tank items bought from AMK Hub, daddy got him a Thomas & shed - playhouse set. We had forgotten to video the gift-tearing session. Ryan practically hug it so tightly and said, OOOOOOOOOOOO Thomas, I LOVE IT!
What more could we ask for? As parents, we are just so glad that we can bring a smile to our child!

For Demi, mummy got her first (hopefully not last) Burberry dress at size 18-24 (smallest at stock) from Takashimaya. Think this is going to be her Chinese New Year dress. Phew! No need to get more new clothes for Demi then :P

Daddy received 2 Levis jeans to meet his new waistline :D Putting on abit of mass makes most of his wardrode seems tight! Mummy needs to take most of the blame since I have been passing those leftovers to him every now and then :P

We were having dinner when this video was taken. Demi was 'squeezing' hard to get her big business done. Just look at those lips, they were 'straightened' like a flat line while she did the squeeze. Simply hilarious! And the best part, after the business (3 squeezes), she munched on her half-eaten biscuit like nothing had happened. FAINTZ...

Thomas, the Tank Engine & Friends

Only learned on the last day of event that there was a Thomas, the Tank Engine& friends Fair at AMK Hub. Mummy was struggling if we should visit the fair since it was a packed day with gift-shopping and wedding solumnization at Raffles Town Club. But it is really hard to get a good range of Thomas train merchandise in Singapore... Ok lah! Let's go then, daddy exclaimed. How sweet :-)

There was a 'real' thomas train ride at level 3, exclusively for shoppers with $50 or more purchases in AMK Hub or S$20 or more purchases in this thomas train fair. Mummy separated the purchase in 3 receipts. Wah lah, 3 rides for Ryan :-) Kiasu mummy ;-P

There you have, a very happy boy and a poorer dad :P
Well, it's an advance christimas present for Ryan. (whispering) Ryan is still talking about the Gordon train with shed and the turntable set...Phew, daddy got to work really hard for that :-D

Though we try not to use such toys as a rewarding factor, they do motivate Ryan to have better behaviour. Also, with this 'motivation', Ryan actually chases daddy to the airport so he can 'earn money for Ryan to buy toy toy'. Otherwise, separation anxiety will surely be intesified in every departure. Very ugly indeed :-P

Now Ryan get his present...what will mummy get huh? (daddy, are you reading this? :-P)
